When I worked at Radio Shack many moons ago, I had to wear a shirt and tie. To be honest I hated ever minute of it because I always thought it was overkill for such a (at the time) geeky place with very little pay. After graduation I was able to drop the tie but dress pants and a button down were still required. Then some upper ups in the company changed and the dress code started to ease up a bit. Next thing I knew jeans and a polo became the norm. When I switched jobs I was met with absolutely no dress code given how most of my contact with customers was via phone, email and IM. My attire ranged from jeans and polo to shorts and a polo. I'm now a school teacher and find myself back in dress pants and a polo laughing at how things have come full circle.
With all of that said here are today's questions.
1. Do you think your attire effects the way you work?
2. Do you think your attire effects the way others judge your work?
3. Do you judge others by the way they dress?
4. Do you think attire as a society is overrated, underrated or just right? Explain.
5. Do you think pay scale should dictate your dress code?
